Heirloom Marquis Engagement Ring

Ajay came to me to make an engagement ring for his now fiancé Madeline wanting to use an heirloom stone from her grandmother. 

Madeline likes wearing small, minimal and dainty jewelry so I wanted to make sure that when I designed her engagement ring, we really encapsulated her style.

The center stone for this ring is a family marquis stone that was set north south originally. A north south setting is typically more traditional for a marquis diamond - this is when the length of the stone points from your palm to your fingertip, parallel to your fingers. I thought an east west setting, where the length of the stone is perpendicular to the finger, would make the marquis stone look more contemporary and in line with what Madeline would like.

I mocked up a few options for Ajay and we settled on an open bezel with hand cut micro pavé on the band. The ring also has a brushed finish with a milgrain edge on the bezel.
